How to size an engine stand by capacity

Map dressed engine weight plus extras to a 750, 1,300, or 1,500 lb class with a 1.25 margin — or accept NO_MATCH. A stand holds; a hoist lifts.

Capacity first, then bolt pattern

Engine stands are sold by published load capacity in pounds. Matching bolt pattern and Grade-8 hardware matters after you know the weight class. This site maps (engine + extras) × 1.25 to three verified VEVOR US classes.

Use dressed weight when accessories stay on

A bare small-block number can look fine for a 750 lb stand while the dressed long-block with heads and intake needs a higher class. Prefer manufacturer or measured dressed/wet weight for the configuration you will mount.

Stand vs hoist

An engine hoist (shop crane) lifts the engine out of the vehicle. A rotating engine stand holds the engine for rebuilding and 360° access. Do not treat a stand as a lift plan.
